Peace and fulfillment are found in the now.
You can find a poor man in ecstasy
And a rich man in emptiness
Living a life chasing future happiness is an illusion, as the future itself is an illusion.
You are always in the now.
'Chasing' ecstasy in the world will never satisfy you; you will always feel like everything is just around the corner.
Many people become depressed at the peaks of their success, realizing that the external world cannot fully fulfill them.
The saddest part is that most don’t even want the possessions; they just want to be perceived as respected and to look a certain way to the crowd, driven by insecurities because they haven’t found themselves.
Personally, I don’t need loads of money, fame, lots of partners, a fancy car, or a fancy house. A wise person should question if these things are truly beneficial in the first place.
You should desire respect for your presence, the way you hug, the way you dance, your sense of humor, authenticity, compassion, empathy, the way you look others in the eyes, your tone of voice, your ability to react slowly, listen, or express your thoughts. In short, your vibe.
The sad truth is, most souls who are rich in worldly possessions but poor in spirit have a negative vibe. At this point, I prefer being around less fortunate people because they at least seem real and have positive vibes.
To conclude, I urge people to engage in self-reflection on how they are living. Become conscious of who you are and what you are chasing, and your intention behind it. Find more contentment within. Perhaps realize that society and marketing have tricked you into thinking life is all about materialistic gain.
